We create experiences that help girls fall in love with the game

Golf is a transformative sport that inherently teaches valuable life lessons like honesty and perseverance…not to mention a good sense of humor! As one of the few sports that can be played for life, golf can also enrich lives and open doors for girls who want to play for fun, compete at the highest level, or to help advance their future careers.

With this in mind, we’ve made it our mission to provide girls with the best chance to fall in love with the game by creating girl-friendly environments to help them learn and thrive!

Fun is our hook, and, once we have the girls’ attention, we help teach them life skills all girls need like positive self-image, finding their voice, and learning to lead.

Why girl-friendly?

We’re glad you asked! Research consistently shows that girls reap the biggest rewards when learning in all-girl environments, which helps them feel more comfortable and gives them a space where they are free to be themselves.

Girls Golf sites make learning the game fun, social, and less-intimidating for girls who are just starting out, or want to play with other girls who share their interest in the game.

Our girl-friendly golf programs:

  • Include social and non-golf opportunities to create lasting friendships
  • Give girls positive, female role models and mentors
  • Provide girls opportunities to lead and give back by volunteering as mentors

Our Program

First Tee – Contra Costa offers its Girls Golf program on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the year (Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall). Combine the monthly Girls Golf classes with our weekly Spring, Summer and Fall co-ed sessions for more exposure to the game of golf and quality group instruction.

We’re not your typical junior golf program!

Founded 25 years ago by a woman who dreamed of sharing her love for the game of golf with her two daughters, we’ve grown into a community of more than 60,000 girls across the globe who are learning and loving the game! Run in partnership between the LPGA Foundation and the United States Golf Association (the governing body in golf), LPGA*USGA Girls Golf (Girls Golf) is a non-profit 501-c3 junior golf program with sites in more than 380 communities across the country.

Girls Golf sites provide girls with quality golf instruction led by LPGA and PGA teaching professionals or certified coaches from The First Tee. Not only are they experts in taking girls from beginner to advanced golfers, but they also specialize in creating experiences that show girls just how much fun golf really is!

What could be better than that? Well, Girls Golf members learn more than just the game of golf. We help empower them with confidence and teach them valuable life skills. From Leadership skills to inspiring healthy living, we use the Five E’s of Girls Golf to Empower, Enrich, Engage, Exercise, and Energize girls through the game of golf.
